The most impressive career could hide the darkest of stories. Lolo Jones, the winner of both the USA championships as well as the World championships in the event of hurdles, was able to achieve her place with much effort and an immense amount of patient. Jones was the only member of a family with five children as well as grew up in extreme poverty. Her mother was always moving and she even spent some time living at the bottom of her home. Jones had to be moved to a different school each year up until her high school years because of this nomadic existence. Jones was forced to move away from mother in Theodore Roosevelt School to follow her passion for track. She lived with four different families during her time at high school in order study at one location. Jones was a part of the Iowa School Orchestra as well the Gatorade Track and Field Award.
